Already this year, music artist Billie Eilish has starred in her own feature-length music documentary and added two more Grammy Awards to her trophy cabinet, but that's not all for fans of the "Therefore I Am" singer to be excited about. The 19-year-old star is ready to move onto a new stage with new music, and she's letting her look reflect that. In a new Instagram post, Billie Eilish debuted her shocking blonde makeover, which is a huge change from the iconic green and black coif she's been sporting for the last couple of years. Billie Eilish dropped her new blonde look on Instagram without warning.
On Mar. 17, the artist posted what looks like a bathroom selfie to her Instagram feed. "Pinch me," Eilish captioned the photo, which features a drastic change to the bright green roots she's been sporting since 2019. The singer offered no further comment about her shaggy, yellow-blonde coif in the post, letting the image speak for itself. But friends and fans were quick to reply to her hair transformation.
Rapper Megan Thee Stallion, who Eilish praised in her Grammy acceptance speech for Record of the Year, commented with a string of heart eye emojis. Actor Skai Jackson responded, "No, pinch me." And singer Chloe Bailey of Chloe x Halle wrote, "I'm obsessed."

A fan theory about her hair went viral recently.
Leading up to and immediately after the 2021 Grammy Awards, which took place on Mar. 14, some fans of Eilish took to social media to share their theory that the singer had lately been wearing wigs for her public appearances. Among the clues they offered were that, normally, you could see Eilish's natural roots near her scalp and that she had recently sported headpieces, scarves, and heights that might have been meant to hide her suspiciously perfect hairline.
Eilish herself confirmed the theory with a TikTok she posted not long after the blonde selfie yesterday. In the clip, she's looking down at her phone camera, back in her green-and-black signature look. Then she lifts up the front of the hairpiece, revealing that it is, in fact, a wig and then laughs.

Eilish hinted that she'd be switching up her personal style for her next album.
The wig theory was based not only on visual clues but because the star had already hinted to her fans that she'd been undergoing a transformation to mark the next phase of her career. Per BBC, in an Instagram Live last December, Eilish revealed that she was looking at the February release of her Apple TV+ documentary, Billie Eilish: The World's a Little Blurry, as a turning point. "I'm changing [my look] after the doc comes out," the "Bad Guy" singer said. "It will be the end of an era. I'm gonna give you a new era." No release date or title has been announced yet, but fans are expecting Eilish's second studio album to be released this year.

Eilish has sported tons of different hair colors over the years.
Those who've been following her career for years are used to seeing Eilish in new hues. Her hair has been teal, lilac, silvery gray, and bright blue, just to name a few bold colors. Her new blonde makeover is the closest to her natural color.
In an Instagram post, her stylist Lissa Renn shared that she was "proud and honored" to work with the star. "Billie has been a client of ours 6+ years now, so fun to watch her grow and evolve as an artist and woman," the stylist captioned a series of photos of her and a newly blonde Eilish, both masked. "I am incredibly grateful for her trust in me to create her new style & the beginning of a new era!"
