Neither Kate Hudson nor Matthew McConaughey are a stranger to rom-coms; and the pair has played a couple on screen not once, but twice (in 2003's How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days and 2008's Fool's Gold). But in a new interview, the former spilled some details of their big, romantic movie kisses, revealing that they weren't quite as magical as they looked from your theater seat. Speaking to Gwyneth Paltrow on her Goop podcast, Kate Hudson explained why kissing Matthew McConaughey wasn't all his fans may have assumed it would be.
To be fair, it's not exactly his fault. "The thing is, every time I kiss McConaughey, it's like there's just something happening and there's like snot or wind…," Hudson began, according to People. "Like when we were kissing in the end of Fool's Gold, we're like in the ocean, we like had the plane crash. He just had snot all over his face."
She didn't elaborate on any of their kisses in How to Lose a Guy in 10 Day, but Hudson did tell Paltrow that, overall, she thinks she hasn't "had the best kissers" as costars and "should have had better ones."
Sparing one of her leading men, Hudson added that her Almost Famous costar Billy Crudup "was good," even though the kiss she was remembering didn't make the movie.
For her part of the conversation, Paltrow targeted Tony Stark/Pepper Potts shippers by saying that locking lips with her Iron Man costar Robert Downey Jr. was "literally like kissing [her] brother."

According to him, Jennifer Lawrence basically sabotaged her onscreen kisses with Hunger Games costar Liam Hemsworth.
"She's one of my best friends, I love her, but if we had a kissing scene, she would make a point of eating garlic or tuna fish or you know something that was disgusting," he said on The Tonight Show, according to Women's Health. "Right before the scene, she'd be like, 'Yeah, I had tuna' or 'I had garlic, and I didn't brush my teeth.' And I'd be like, 'Fantastic, I can't wait to get in there and taste it!'"

2 Tobey Maguire and Kirsten Dunst in Spider-Man
That half-masked clinch in the rain in 2002's Spider-Man may be one of the most iconic romantic moments in superhero movie history, but even Spidey prefers to be right-side up when it comes to kissing.
"There was rain pouring up or down my nose. I couldn't breathe and I was gasping for breath out of the corner of Kirsten's mouth," Tobey Maguire said of filming that scene with Kirsten Dunst, per the Associated Press.

Before becoming famous in his own right, Bradley Cooper guest-starred on an episode of Sex and the City as one of Carrie's dates. And though she played a sex columnist on TV, Cooper doesn't have fond memories of kissing Sarah Jessica Parker, but not due to her lack of skill.
"Right before we shot the scene, this guy came up and I think he said, 'SJP does no tongue. No tongue, man'. And I was like, 'Who's SJP?'" Cooper supposedly said, per Female First. "So she kisses me, then straddles me in the front of the car and all I kept thinking about was keeping my tongue as far back in my mouth as possible. It was nightmare. But she wasn't—she was great."

4 Alyson Hannigan and Jason Segel in How I Met Your Mother
I know what you're thinking: Not Marshmallow and Lily Pad! But Alyson Hannigan had her reasons for not enjoying her early TV kisses with How I Met Your Mother costar Jason Segel. Namely, he had an unhealthy habit.
"It's like kissing an ashtray and he's trying to be polite by having gum or mints, but it doesn't help," Hannigan said, per Digital Spy.
Segel even struck up a bet with Hannigan to help him quit, and eventually he was successful. But when "he got stressed out," the other actor said, Segel would pick up the pack again.
5 Miles Teller and Shailene Woodley in The Spectacular Now
Miles Teller has a bit of a reputation in Hollywood for being unpleasant, though he's argued that he's actually just misunderstood. His comments about The Spectacular Now costar Shailene Woodley may shed some light on the subject.
"Before our first kissing scene, Shailene took these Chinese dirt supplements and shoved them in her mouth. It's like a dirt pouch," he said at the film's premiere, per Variety, adding that the supplements smelled pretty gross.
